Root Canal

Is the pain of a swollen or infected tooth causing you trouble? The team at White Center Smiles doesn’t want you to be afraid of a root canal when we can ease your pain. We offer several different methods of sedation to help you relax during your visit. We believe you and your family should feel comfortable in our office.

Why Do I Need a Root Canal?

The soft tissue inside your tooth, or the pulp, can become infected if you have a deep cavity, a cracked or fractured tooth, or an injured tooth. This can cause pain and swelling, and an abscess might form inside the root or around the bone of the root. If the tooth isn’t treated, a patient could completely lose a tooth.

Root Canals and Sedation Dentistry

If you are in need of a root canal, our team is ready to help you have the most relaxed experience possible. We offer laughing gas for complete relaxation, and we can administer the gas before the local anesthesia if necessary. We can also give you enteral sedation, or a pill that will keep you awake but relaxed. Many people are anxious about root canal procedures, and Dr. Osundeko will put you at ease with her soothing manner.

When you are ready, the dentist will clear away the damaged pulp. We will use an antimicrobial solution as necessary to keep the tooth from getting infected. After the tooth is filled, you have several options for the crown. Either a temporary filling will be placed until a custom crown is delivered, or you can opt for a same-day CEREC crown.

After the root canal procedure, your tooth may be sensitive for a few days. The dentist will instruct you on how to take care care of your tooth and to ease any discomfort. You may also be put on antibiotics if a threat of spreading infection exists.

During any visit to our office, we want you to feel comfortable. If you are in need of our services, don’t delay calling us! We can make sure you are pain free and back on your feet as soon as possible.
